Remember to Pre-Order Holiday Poinsettias from 4-H

Halloween is probably the holiday on everyone’s mind, but we are now taking orders for holiday poinsettias to be delivered December 1st.  Call the Extension Office or find a 4-H member to order.  Thanks for your support!

State Horse Show Results

Three members of the HoofMates 4-H Club represented Orange County at the 50th VA State 4-H Championship Horse Show this past weekend.  Their results are:

Special congratulations to Ashleigh for being chosen as one of the first recipients of a Connie Collier Memorial Scholarship for $1,200!

 

Fauquier 4-H Beef & Boer Goat Club Presents...........4-H PIG DAY CAMP


4-H Pig Day Camp will be held on October 29th at the Fauquier County Fairgrounds.  Pig Day Camp will focus on the entire pig including feeding, general care, health management, fitting, show day preparations, and showmanship.

Our goals are to share knowledge, information, and experience we have gained from some of the areas finest pig producers, and to send you home with a toolbox full of skills to help prepare you to become a 4-H “Showman with the edge!”

4-H Officer Training Scheduled for November 5th

All 4-H club officers should mark their calendars for an Officer Training Workshop, Saturday, November 5, 2011.  Madison County will host this annual  multi-county event; please plan to be there from 9 a.m. to Noon.  More details will be available soon, once the location is confirmed.  Please keep this important training date in mind as you hold club elections in October.

Delaney O'Donnell Wins State Record Book Competition

Bit N' Bridle Club senior member Delaney O'Donnell took top honors in this weekend's State 4-H Horse Show record book competition in Lexington.  Delaney had a near-perfect book and the judges were especially in admiration of her project story.  Congratulations to Delaney!  She will receive a savings bond award for her hard work.

District Leader Training Announced

The Northern District All Stars and Leaders Association will be holding 4-H leader training, fair judges training, and association meetings on Saturday, October 22, at the Shenandoah County Extension Office.  Please hold the date.  Registration information will be sent out shortly.  Topics to be covered include “how to keep senior 4-H’ers involved”, “how to work with 4-H officers to run an effective club meeting”, and “photography”  the 4-H project and also a session on fair judging for photography.  Everyone is invited.
