Staffing Changes Announced in Extension Office

Well, 2016 is coming in with a bang. We're excited for them and sad for us in announcing that both Sarah and Tina have awesome new job opportunities and will be leaving this month.

Sarah has accepted an Extension Agent position in Greene County focusing on local foods and working with producers in Greene, Albemarle, Fluvanna, and Louisa. This new position is closely aligned with her interests and skills and represents a chance for her to further her Extension career. We appreciate her leadership of TACO, Character Counts, Farm to School, Cloverbud Day Camp, Share-the-Fun, State Capitol Day, and all the support she gave to clubs, the fair, and school enrichment programs like Ag Day and Farm Tour. Sarah's easygoing nature, creativity, and willingness to help with any project, regardless of the workload, will be sorely missed. Her last day will be January 22nd.

Tina will be an in-home counselor with Family Preservation Services in Culpeper, and this opportunity allows her to better utilize her degrees and interests in Sociology and Human Services, where she holds a Master's degree. Tina has been exceptionally detail-oriented and provided strong service through so many big changes in Extension, including the 4-H Club Agency accounts. She has been an organizer, hand-holder, and champion of getting things done before they're needed. We know she is dearly loved by our customers and her smile and helpfulness on the phone and at the counter will be missed. Her last day will be January 29th.

We are aware of the big challenges we will face with the loss of two great employees, but we are pleased that they have the opportunities to pursue what they love and advance themselves in their careers. We have all supported them in these big changes, and we thank Sarah and Tina for their service to Orange County Extension.
