Why are Fairs and/or Festivals important to your community?
This new contest gives youth an opportunity to create a video to highlight the theme above.
There are two age divisions for youth to compete in, Junior Youth: Age 9-13 and Senior Youth: Age 14-19. Videos should be a minimum of 1 minute 30 seconds and a maximum of 2 minutes 30
seconds. Videos under or over the time allotment will be docked for points based on the
contest rubric. Videos will be judged based on: Video Quality, Story Content, Story Impression, Audience Impact, and Creativity.
Selected videos will be showcased at the State Fair of Virginia in a designated location
during Fair Week. Signage will direct State Fair attendees to the video display area.
Contest Finalists will receive four one-day admission tickets to the State Fair of Virginia.
Additional tickets can be purchased at the gate upon entry.
Winners will be announced prior to State Fair Week and awards will be mailed and/or
picked up by the recipient.
Awards for both Junior Youth and Senior Youth divisions are:
• 1st: $100 cash prize from VAF, certificate and SFVA Prize Pack
• 2nd: $50 cash prize from VAF, certificate, SFVA Prize Pack
• 3rd: $25 cash prize from VAF, certificate, SFVA Prize Pack
• 4th: Certificate and SFVA Prize Pack
• Best use of Technology: Certificate, SFVA Prize Pack
