Critical Conversations for Teens

We are excited to have Dr. Isaac Hilpp or Ms. Kendriana Price from the University of Kentucky join us for a virtual workshop on Critical Conversations on March 13th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This event is focused on teens ages 13 and older. Registration is separate from Teen Summit: Taking Action, so please register for this training here: https://bit.ly/4HCriticalConversations. In the past year, the importance of valuing perspectives different than our own has become more imminent. Continued navigation of the double pandemics of this past year left room for innovation in programming and outreach to our future leaders. Critical Conversations was birthed from this end to provide youth with the opportunity to engage in these relevant conversations with their peers, and also learn how to facilitate them with family, friends, and other members of their communities. Critical Conversations is a collaborative effort between the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment’s 4-H Youth Development Program, CES Family and Consumer Sciences, and Office of Diversity. Through this training youth will be able to 1. Understand diversity and its relation to power and privilege and how to leverage it 2. Determine personal levels of empathy and learn strategies to strengthen practice to communicate across differences 3. Understand bystander effect and how it relates to social justice We are excited about this conversation, and are excited to have you join us! Registration closes on March 6th.
