Exciting Opportunity for 4-H Members to Attend 2017 Presidential Inauguration

Virginia has the opportunity to send six 4-H youth to the 2017 Presidential Inauguration in January. This will be a five-day experience with citizenship workshops, tours of Washington, D.C., the Inaugural Parade, and the Inaugural Address. The event ends with a dinner dance and cruise and time to network with 4-H contacts from across the country.

Applications are due next Friday and a deposit of $250 is due by the end of October. Total cost for the trip is being subsidized by the 4-H Foundation, so applicants should expect to pay about $425 total (including the deposit), plus travel expenses and a couple of meals. Most meals, lodging, and transportation during the program are included.

Exact dates are January 17-21, 2017, so youth will miss three and a half days of school.

For an application, please contact the Extension office. This January inauguration experience will replace the traditional Citizenship Washington Focus offered through 4-H each summer.
