Highlighting Class of '22 4-H Graduates: Carly Jenkins

Carly Jenkins is a senior in the Orange County 4-H Dairy Club. She has been a part of the dairy club for as long as she can remember. Carly grew up on her family’s dairy farm. The thing that Carly enjoyed the most about her time in the club was working with her animals and volunteering. Over the years, Carly has spent time volunteering with different camps that 4-H offers. She has been a Camp Counselor at 4-H Junior Camp and 4-H Cloverbud Camp, and long time volunteer and side walker at 4-H TACO Camp. Carly said that she always enjoyed TACO Camp and that volunteering there was a special experience and one that she will never forget.

Apart from leadership roles at camps, Carly has shown herself to be an outstanding leader in the Dairy Club. She was president, a role that she enjoyed and held for two years as well as Vice President and Treasurer. Carly says that many of her experiences in 4-H have affected her life or steered her in different directions to where she is today.

In the fall Carly will be going to Virginia Tech to study Agriculture Science. After this she says she would like to work in Agriculture especially in agronomy and crop work. She also wants to work with animals and animal husbandry.

She also said that her involvement with agriculture through the club has been the most inspiring force for her to go to Virginia Tech to study agriculture. Carly will always remember what she learned in 4-H and the great experiences from her time in the club and camp setting.
