Orange County 4-H Archery takes home multiple awards at states

Many gold, silver, and bronze awards were handed out Saturday, September 10, to members of the Orange County 4-H Archery Club after an amazing performance at the State 4‑H Shoot. Seven senior and junior club members competed against many other 4-H groups from counties all over Virginia at the multi-day competition held at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center in Appomattox.

Ages 10-18, the Orange competitors shot at distances ranging from 10-25 yards, 15-30 yards, and 30-60 meters. They had three minutes to shoot five arrows at each distance. There was at least one member in every class, including Junior Instinctive, Junior Compound, Senior Bowhunter, National Recurve, and National Compound. In the end, the club took home three gold, one silver, and three bronze awards. One of the senior members took home 1st place in the National Recurve class, and another was 4th in National Compound.

The state shoot is the last competition of the 4-H year, and the members are very proud of ending the year with success. The Orange County 4-H Archery Club is very proud of all their archers, and can't wait to see what else they accomplish. Starting in October the club will be accepting new members.
